Game 24: New Jersey Devils vs Buffalo Sabres
Game Time: 7:00 PM EST
TV: MSG+
Radio: WFAN 660 AM, 101.9 FM
Match-Up
The Devils (10-8-5) are desperate for a win, as they face-off against the Buffalo Sabres (9-13-2) for the second time in less than a week. Last Saturday, the Devils fell to the Sabres 4-3 in a shootout, in a game that featured a fair amount of trash-talking from both sides, most prominent being Adam Henrique and Ryan Miller jawing after the shootout. The Devils will look for revenge at the Prudential Center on Thursday night, but more importantly, will be looking to end their recent 6-game skid (0-5-1) and avoid their first 7-game losing streak since 1986.
Buffalo Stampedes Past New Jersey in the Shootout, 4-3
Three Stars of the Game:
3rd Star: Tyler Ennis (1 SO Goal)
2nd Star: Ryan Miller (3 GA, 28 Saves)
1st Star: Jason Pominville (2 goals)
The Devils (10-6-5) were once again left with a familiar feeling after falling to the Buffalo Sabres (9-12-1) in the shootout Saturday evening. Devils fans were glad to see the Carter-Gionta-Bernier line reunited, after Carter was activated from IR. Both teams’ power plays were held scoreless, the Devils going 0-5 and the Sabres going 0-6. Each team also gave up a short-handed goal. The Devils have now dropped 7 out of their last 9 games.
Game 6: New York Islanders at New Jersey Devils
Game Time: 7:00 PM
TV: MSG+
Radio: WFAN 660 AM, 101.9 FM
Match-Up
The Devils (3-0-2) come back home after losses in overtime and a shootout on the road to take on the New York Islanders (3-2-1) for the second of five meetings this season. The last time these two teams squared off, the Devils pulled out a 2-1 win in Nassau Coliseum with goals from David Clarkson and Travis Zajac. The Devils haven’t been too considerate of their fan’s blood pressure early this season, with their last 3 games going well into overtime. The Islanders are only one point behind the Devils in the Atlantic Division, and will look to exact revenge and move into division lead.
Don’t Count Out the 2012-2013 New Jersey Devils.

As a fan, I want articles about the Devils to have enthusiasm and passion. Lately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ve read many “preview” articles about this season that have already written the Devils off. They read something like this…”I wouldn’t be surprised if the Devils didn’t make the playoffs.” This pessimism, as well as excuses for the disaster they predict is shameful. Perhaps it’s a case of setting the bar low so no one will be disappointed, but I believe that we should be expecting more from this Devils team. With good reason.
Questions for 2013
With the 2013 season starting in just a few hours, there are still many surprising questions remaining for a team that was 2 wins away from a Stanley Championship. The loss of THE PLAYER WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED hurts for sure but that’s not the only question.
Boardwalk Empire Hockey – Albany Devils Play in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall
The Albany Devils hosted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins down in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Sunday the 25th. It was a great night for hockey in AC. Sunday’s game was the first of four Albany Devils games at Boardwalk Hall this season. I was very excited to see our favorite players on the ice and playing hockey again.
