Category Archives: Viewing Party
One of the many goals we have had this year at Mission Control is to show that the Devils really are JERSEY’S team. We have made a huge effort to spread our viewing parties around the state so all of our home town fans can have a chance to cheer, have a few drinks and enjoy some great food all in one place… together!
We sat down in August to plan out a schedule, discussed different options with one another about the various counties we come from, and then submitted a poll to our fellow fans to find out where our fans wanted to gather.
Ocean County, specifically the shore area, is the part of Jersey I call home. I couldn’t have been more excited to find a location down by me that would play host to a group of our passionate fans.
Simkos Grill in Brielle answered the call and the response from our shore area/south jersey fans was overwhelming. I lost count of how many fantastic people showed up to watch the game together. Simkos provided us with a beautiful glass enclosed porch, with two large screen TVs and surround sound; we filled the room! With over 100 people in attendance, we even took over a portion of the bar room!
Special guest Jim Dowd made the rounds, chatting with fans, posing for photos and signing autographs. He even let us check out his Stanley Cup Championship ring!
We gave away 4 pairs of tickets to various Devils home games in our raffle, and two lucky fans won themselves autographed sticks. One was signed by Ilya Kovalchuk, and the other signed by Patrik Elias.
As a further surprise, our beloved arena announcer, Kevin Clark, joined in the fun! Kevin told me he had never attended a viewing party before, and since this was nearer to his home, he thought he would come and see what it was all about.
Everyone I spoke to said they really enjoyed themselves, the food and the atmosphere. With the Devils treating us to a strong performance and a big win over Pittsburgh, we were attracting some major attention from the other patrons with our chanting and cheering, too!
With three months left in the regular season, and high hopes that we’ll be able to continue into the playoffs, keep your eyes on our viewing party schedule. If there is any area we haven’t visited, be sure to leave us some ideas in the comments!
I would also like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has come to our gatherings so far. To my fellow shore fans, thank you for making our Simkos party such a huge success! Thanks to you, I can envision more events coming to our area in the future!
Tuesday was my first New Jersey Devils viewing party, but it certainly didn’t go as planned. The Devils lost a close game, my ride somehow got lost in Morristown for twenty minutes and I missed the entire first period. There was traffic on the Parkway and it was a long day of work. French fries were thrown. Were it any other event, this night would have been a total disaster.
However, my night at North Brunswick Pub defied a troublesome start. A trip far from the friendly confines of the Rock proved more than hospitable when at least 50 Devils fans packed into a bar with more than 20 HD TVs. It was a hockey paradise with drink specials and 35-cent boneless wings.
Grant Marshall of the 2003 Stanley Cup team was there to sign autographs and quite approachable. Fellow general Kevin Lankey went home with four autographed pucks for friends, Marshall talked hockey with anyone who wanted to chat and even posed for photographs. Other autographs were raffled away from Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias. It was a fun night for a few lucky Devils fans.
Though the game didn’t go our way, the Devils kept it interesting. Against the defending Stanley Cup champs, our Devils repeatedly battled back before falling in the final minutes to the Boston Bruins. Scoring three goals against Tim Thomas is no small feat and the Devils received goals from David Clarkson and Nick Palmieri. It was Palmieri’s first two-goal game of his career.
The result wasn’t what we’d hoped for, but the energy throughout the bar was electric and it was a great way to watch an away game. The Devils Generals thank the North Brunswick Pub for being wonderful hosts and turning each of their 20 screens to a great Devils hockey game.
There will be another Devils viewing party in West Hampton next weekend. The Devils Army invades South Jersey for a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. If a night filled with traffic and anger that ends in a loss can be this much fun, Saturday’s viewing party is bound to be more exciting. We’ll see you there.
What could be more fun than hanging out with a group of fellow hockey fans, enjoying delicious discounted food and drinks, meeting NJ Devils alumni, playing exciting games, taking home fabulous prizes, and watching your NJ Devils take on the reigning Stanley Cup champs on a giant 80 inch HD projector?
Why don’t you come find out for yourself? Next Tuesday, November 15, the Devils Army Generals will be hosting our second viewing party of the season as the NJ Devils travel to Beantown to take on the Boston Bruins. As we continue our quest to bring the Devils Army to all corners of New Jersey and beyond, we’re venturing into the heart of the Garden State, to the North Brunswick Pub on Route 1 in North Brunswick, NJ.
The North Brunswick Pub is known for its tasty pub grub, reasonable prices, and friendly, casual atmosphere. With multiple large flat-screen TVs, two 80 inch HD projectors, and more, it’s the perfect place to recreate that “at the game” feeling. This location was actually suggested to us by a member of the Devils Army on Twitter, and is a favorite among many of my own family and friends.
As always, there will be contests and giveaways, raffles, a silent auction, and an appearance by a member of the Devils alumni – 2003 Stanley Cup Champion Grant Marshall.
If wings are your thing, you’re in luck—Tuesday nights at the Pub are “35 Cent Boneless Wing Nights” from 6pm until close! Be sure to check out some of their mouthwatering new sauces, including Mediterranean Feta, Creamy Pesto, Red Pepper Basil, and Garlic Parmesan! There will also be discount pitchers of domestic beer and other food and drink specials to be announced.
The fun starts at 7pm. Come join us at the North Brunswick Pub, located at 1864 Route 1 (on the northbound side) in North Brunswick, NJ. For directions, click here (I have provided directions from the Prudential Center—please make sure to change the starting address to your own).
For more information, please check out and RSVP to our Official Facebook Event. Bring a friend, Get Your Jersey On and we’ll see you there!

The Devils and the Flyers share one of the most brutal rivalries in the NHL. On Thursday November 3rd, come out to Edison Ale House as the New Jersey Devils travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers for the second time this season.
Join other members of the Devils Army for hockey and festivities, including great giveaways and a silent auction that you won’t want to miss. Be sure to break out your black and red, because rocking your best Devils gear will get you 10% off all food! To wash that down, $15 pitchers will be offered to all of-age, thirsty Devils fans.
Just because the action stops, doesn’t mean the fun does. During intermission, show off your knowledge of all things Devils by taking part in some trivia hosted by the Devils Generals. Of course there’s always a chance that some great Devils alumni may show up to cheer on our hometown boys alongside the greatest fans in the world, but you’ll have to be there to find out!
So Get Your Jersey On and be sure to come out and root for your New Jersey Devils!
