Player of the Week: Jan 9 – Jan 16

The New Jersey Devils finished  up a solid road trip with 2 wins and 1 loss this week. One of the big highlights was the bounce back win in Edmonton. Let’s see the players that helped make this happen.  Zach Parise had the winning goal in OT in Edmonton and also had 2 assists in Calgary. Patrik Elias continues to have a great season posting 2g and 1a and the game winner against the Jets on Saturday night. Finally, Ilya Kovalchuk continues to produce with 2g, 2a, 1 goal that was the game-tying shorthanded goal in Edmonton.

Player of the Week: Jan 2 – Jan 8

Ilya KovalchukThe fans have voted and Kovalchuk is the player of the week for Jan 2 – Jan 8. The Devils wound up 2-1-1 this week. The ended the week on a high note beating Pittsburgh; where Ilya notched 1 of his 2 game winning goals. Ilya totaled 3 goals and 2 assists. This seems to be the starting point of Kovalchuck’s hot streak. Congratulations to Ilya Kovalchuk getting this week’s player of the week.

Player of the Week Nominees: Jan 2 – Jan 8

The New Year did not start off well for the Devils, with an overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on January 2nd and then a one-sided affair two days later to the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. However, things turned around for New Jersey over the weekend, with back to back commanding wins over the South East Division Leading Florida Panthers Friday night at home, and the always tough Atlantic Division rival Penguins the next night in Pittsburgh.

Here are our nominees for the Player of the Week for January 2nd-January 8th. First, we have Ilya Kovalchuk, who tallied 3 goals and 1 assist, with 2 of the 3 being game winners. Next is Adam Henrique, who also had 2 goals, (one being short-handed), while also notching 2 assists. Finally, we have David Clarkson, who had 2 goals and is now the team’s leading goal scorer, with 15.

Let us know who you think deserves the Player of the Week and if you disagree, choose other and tell us who you think should be the winner!

Player of the Week Winner: Dec 26th – Jan 1st

Martin BroduerAlthough he has been having a tough season thus far, Martin Brodeur was clearly the Player of the Week for Dec. 26th - January 1st.  The future Hall of Famer posted back to back wins against Buffalo and Pittsburgh, both by the score of 3-1, posting a .962 SV% during that span. This extends his career record as the all-time winningest goalie to 636 wins.

Congratulations Marty!

Stay tuned for the Player of the Week poll for January 2nd – January 8th.

Player of the Week Winner: Dec 12 – Dec 18

Patrik EliasThe team surged during this time creating many opportunities for a long list of players to choose from. But after all was said and done how could we choose any one other than Patrik Elias. He had 4 goals this week, including the one against Montreal to take over as the Devils all-time goal scorer, passing John Maclean with 348 career goals. Elias was the Devil’s sole representative last year in the All-Star game and he comes to mind again this year. Elias is currently leading the New Jersey Devils with 30 points, (13g, 17a). Congratulations to Patrik Elias for his record and for being voted Player of the Week.

Player of the Week: Dec 12 – Dec 18

This past week was filled with great moments. Friday, the New Jersey Devils retired number 27 and then the team went on to win their 3rd straight game going 6-3 against Dallas. The team scored 18 goals this week beating Tampa, Florida, Dallas and Montreal. With that many goals scored we can choose a bunch of players for this weeks Player of the Week. However, we pulled what we thought were the three we should highlight.

Our captain, coming off POTW 12/4-12/11, had another great week scoring 3 goals and had 6 assists. Another great moment for the organization was Patrik Elias’s goals in Montreal where he broke the Devils All-Time Goal Scoring Record. This week he had 4 goals and 2 assists. With all the offense we can easily forget about our defensemen. This week we highlight Bryce Salvador because he had over 20 minutes of ice time in almost every game this week. He also made a glove save against Dallas that changed the game. He finished the week with 2 assists and a plus 8. As always, let us know if we left someone out by clicking OTHER.
