The Devils are coming off their first win of the season as they defeated the Anaheim *Mighty* Ducks 2-1. In their home opener Taylor Hall stole the show netting both tallies for New Jersey. Schneider once again showed why he is one of the top 5 goalies in the league and shut down the Ducks.
The Boston Bruins are coming into today’s game 2-1. They defeated the young Winnipeg Jets 4-1. This is Boston’s home opener and they are expecting the return of Patrice Bergeron.
Keys to the Game:
The Devils should be playing with some confidence after notching their first win. Yet there are still parts of the game they need to improve. Even though they won the offense still only created 2 goals. They defensive breakouts continue to be an issue so hopefully the Devils improve at that facet of the game.
Players to Watch:
Pavel Zacha is looking to continue his excellent play. The former 6th overall pick has shown that he deserves to be in the NHL through the first 3 games. He continues to gain confidence so look for Zacha to finally notch his first career NHL goal.
Brandon Carlo has taken a huge role on the Boston blue line early in the season. The 6’5” defenseman scored his first career goal last game. He is a large hardworking presence in the defensive zone and look for him to make an impact this game.
With both teams come into this game with momentum. Yet the Devils are still struggling to find chemistry in their lines and to generate offense. Couple that with it being the Bruins home opener and Patrice Bergeron’s return the Devils are up against a lot. Devils lose 3-1
SB’s Record: 3-2
