Boardwalk Empire Hockey – Albany Devils Play in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall
The Albany Devils hosted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins down in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Sunday the 25th. It was a great night for hockey in AC. Sunday’s game was the first of four Albany Devils games at Boardwalk Hall this season. I was very excited to see our favorite players on the ice and playing hockey again.
Mattias Tedenby, Adam Henrique, Jacob Josefson (scored shorthanded) and Bobby Butler each had goals, Butler also has an assist. Goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 31 saves while playing his ninth start of the season and his second start of the week. The game ended in a 5 man shootout where Megna of the Penguins made the only goal.
The PA announcer was none other than our own Kevin Clark. It was like I was back watching the NHL, with a few exceptions. The first thing I noticed, as a first timer to an AHL game, was that the height of the side glass was obviously shorter than in the NHL. Then of course we weren’t in the PruCenter, aka”the Rock”, our home away from home.
In between the action they played an Adam Henrique interview on the jumbotron where they asked him what his favorite moment playing for the New Jersey Devils was. Henrique replied, “Scoring against the New York Rangers.” The crowd in Boardwalk Hall was ecstatic. Many of us agreed that it was our favorite moment too.
As a few of us have learned on our trips to Albany, in the second intermission we get to “Chuck-A-Puck” without being thrown out of the arena. We were happy to see they brought the game down to Atlantic City.
It was great to see the Devils Army come together for the game. I am looking forward to the next three games at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall!
