Matchup:
Tonight is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Devils and the Maple Leafs. Each team has collected four points in the season series, but the Devils are on top with two wins, the most recent coming in Toronto back on February 21st, 4-3 in overtime.
Push it:
If my 80’s theme wasn’t good enough for you on Tuesday, you’re going to love my 90’s theme today!
As mentioned in the previous game preview, the Devils need goals from their top stars. Well on Tuesday night in Ottawa, Ilya Kovalchuk didn’t disappoint as he rifled a shot over Ben Bishop’s left shoulder for his 400th career goal and a nice 1-0 win against the Senators. However, it’s not enough. The Devils need to “Push it” as they finish out the regular season and get ready for the playoffs, so they need scoring from the other big boys. So for tonight, I’m looking to YOU Zach Parise and David Clarkson, to step it up and break your goalless streaks!
Get Ready for This:
Ready, Ready, Ready for This!! Hey… I told you I was going with the 90’s theme today, so are you ready for the playoffs? Well here’s a little “By the numbers” for you: With a Devils win and a Sabres loss, our magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 4. There’s also a few other scenarios, but I’m not ready to get into those just yet. We just need to win!
Also, if you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to send in your designs for the Devils Playoff Towels, you have until March 25th. One person will have a chance to have their design displayed on 17,000 rally towels AND they will win a FREE pair of Season Tickets for 2012-2013! So, get those designs in people!
Devils’ projected lineup:
Parise – Henrique – Kovalchuk
Sykora – Elias – Zubrus
Ponikarovsky – Josefson – Clarkson
Boulton – Carter – Janssen
Greene – Fayne
Volchenkov – Zidlicky
Salvador – Larsson
Brodeur
Hedberg
The Toronto Maple Leafs:
The Leafs are coming off back to back blowout losses, including an 8-0 beat down to the Bruins on Monday. Since Randy Carlyle took over as Head Coach, Toronto is 3-6-1 and have won just four of their last 21 games. With second leading scorer, Joffrey Lupul lost to injury, things are not looking bright in Toronto.
Leafs projected lineup:
Ashton – Bozak – Kessel
MacArthur – Grabovski – Frattin
Connolly – Steckel – Crabb
Rosehill – Lombardi – Armstrong
Gunnarsson – Phaneuf
Liles – Komisarek
Gardiner – Schenn
Gustavsson
Reimer
