Player of the Week Nominees: Jan 2 – Jan 8
The New Year did not start off well for the Devils, with an overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on January 2nd and then a one-sided affair two days later to the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. However, things turned around for New Jersey over the weekend, with back to back commanding wins over the South East Division Leading Florida Panthers Friday night at home, and the always tough Atlantic Division rival Penguins the next night in Pittsburgh.
Here are our nominees for the Player of the Week for January 2nd-January 8th. First, we have Ilya Kovalchuk, who tallied 3 goals and 1 assist, with 2 of the 3 being game winners. Next is Adam Henrique, who also had 2 goals, (one being short-handed), while also notching 2 assists. Finally, we have David Clarkson, who had 2 goals and is now the team’s leading goal scorer, with 15.
Let us know who you think deserves the Player of the Week and if you disagree, choose other and tell us who you think should be the winner!
